Double exposure photography.

The ever-occuring dream of flying and the

"unbearable lightness of being" (Milan Kundera) is

another essential motif of my work.

This dream was dreamt on 27 February, the National

Polar Bear Day.

Statement

Born in Belgrade, former Yugoslavia, raised in Germany. I have studied languages and work as a freelance translator. All my life I have been looking for various methods for expressing my emotional life. I have been influenced by the surrealist and dadaist artists from the 1920s and 1930s but also by the the photographic credo of the pictorialists and early ghost photography dating back to the beginning of the 19th century.

My favourite photographic method is the double exposure technique which is like using like a magic wand. I can create a world in which everything is possible, from walking on water and making fish fly, to manipulating the real-life size of objects, landscapes, flora and fauna.

Visually, I was inspired by the surreal elements in the movies of Jack Arnold and later David Cronenberg whereas the message I aim to transport is the complexity of the human mind.

Here, I see myself as a visual descendant of Ingmar Bergman and Andrei Tarkovsky. My main psychological themes are anxiety, fear, emotional stress, the ambiguities of life, the metamorphoses of a human being in an ever-changing world.

Another passion of mine is music and I have made a handful of music videos for independent musicians using various techniques, such as stop motion or loop clips.

Sono nata a Belgrado, ex Jugoslavia, cresciuta in Germania. Ho studiato lingue e lavoro come traduttrice freelance. Per tutta la vita ho cercato vari metodi per esprimere la mia vita emotiva. Sono stato influenzata dagli artisti surrealisti e daisti degli anni '20 e '30, ma anche dal credo fotografico dei pittori e dalla prima fotografia fantasma risalente all'inizio del XIX secolo.

Il mio metodo fotografico preferito è la tecnica della doppia esposizione che è come usare come una bacchetta magica. Posso creare un mondo in cui tutto è possibile, dal camminare sull'acqua e far volare i pesci, alla manipolazione delle dimensioni reali di oggetti, paesaggi, flora e fauna.

Visivamente, sono stato ispirata dagli elementi surreali nei film di Jack Arnold e poi David Cronenberg, mentre il messaggio che intendo trasportare è la complessità della mente umana. Qui, mi vedo come un discendente visivo di Ingmar Bergman e Andrei Tarkovsky.

I miei principali temi psicologici sono l'ansia, la paura, lo stress emotivo, le ambiguità della vita, le metamorfosi di un essere umano in un mondo in continua evoluzione.

Un'altra mia passione è la musica e ho realizzato una manciata di video musicali per musicisti indipendenti utilizzando varie tecniche, come stop motion o loop clip.
