Marja-Riitta Vuorela 

Artist Statement

Marja-Riitta Vuorela was born in Finland. She has a university degree in Art History and has a theoretical knowledge in art. As an artist, she is self-taught. She has two passions: drawing and writing. Pen and paper have always been a part of her life. She writes with a pen as a profession and draw with a pen as a hobby. She works as a newspaper journalist. Her main interests are drawing with charcoal and pastel as well as combining the two. In her work, she wants to depict women and children's emotions delicately. Her works are at the same time classical yet contemporary. She likes to practice chiaroscuro lighting and academic drawing. In her topics, she is looking for a link between the mind and visage. She is amazed by the intense feeling of human eyes.
